How 2Cal Cut Energy Use by 56% and Made Sustainability Fun
Our Sustainability Committee recently brought members to 2Cal in Downtown Los Angeles for a building tour, lunch, and a closer look at how the property has reduced its energy use over time.
The results are impressive. 2Cal uses 57% less energy than the national median. Its energy use is down 56% compared with 1995 and 17% compared with 2020, even as occupancy has increased each year.
The building has held LEED Platinum certification since 2018 and was recently recertified Fitwel 1 Star. It is also WiredScore Platinum and UL Healthy Building certified.
Members also learned about 2Cal’s long-standing participation in LADWP’s Demand Response Program, which helps lower electricity use during periods of high demand. Building management makes it a team effort and serves complimentary ice cream to thank tenants for doing their part on Demand Response days. 🍦
