BOMA/GLA Heads to Sacramento to Make Your Voice Heard

state legislative priorities

Advocacy helps protect the future of commercial real estate. Laws in Sacramento affect how you manage properties, serve tenants, and grow your business—so BOMA/GLA is on the frontlines making sure your voice is heard.

What You Need to Know

This week, BOMA/GLA members are heading to Sacramento for the California Commercial Real Estate Summit. They’ll meet lawmakers to discuss key issues in property management, development, and investment.

Some of the priority legislation we’ll be addressing includes:

AB 1007 (Rubio) – Faster Project Approvals

Cuts permitting time from 90 to 45 days, helping property owners and managers complete projects faster and avoid delays.

AB 380 (Gonzalez) – Commercial Rent Caps

Coalition at California Business Properties Association is working to get rid of commercial property price caps on long term leases and any harmful language to CRE in this bill.

SB 71 (Wiener) – CEQA Streamlining

Helps commercial and mixed-use projects skip duplicate reviews, saving time and reducing costs for owners and investors.

SB 522 (Wahab) – Post-Disaster Recovery Rules

This bill is a step backward for post-disaster housing and mixed use recovery.

How It Impacts You

These bills can impact project timelines, permits, leases, and disaster recovery. Meeting with lawmakers in Sacramento helps show how their decisions affect real buildings, jobs, and communities.
