Showing Up for CRE: From City Hall to Sacramento

This week, BOMA/GLA members and partners will come together at the Hollywood Bowl for one of our biggest events of the year.

But BOMA at the Bowl does more than bring our industry together - it helps support BOMA/GLA’s advocacy work throughout the year.

And there has been plenty of work to do.

We took your voice to Sacramento.

This summer, BOMA/GLA members traveled to the State Capitol and met directly with Assemblymembers Rick Chavez Zbur, Jessica Caloza, and Mike Fong to discuss permitting delays, rising costs, and legislation affecting commercial real estate.

Our delegation was also welcomed onto the Assembly Floor by Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez - a first for BOMA/GLA.

We helped move permitting reform forward.

AB 2418, BOMA/GLA’s co-sponsored commercial permitting reform bill authored by Assemblymember Mark González, passed the Legislature and is now headed to the Governor’s desk.

The bill would help provide another path for commercial plan review when local review timelines are not being met.

And we’re fighting for CRE here at home.

Our advocacy team has been working across Greater Los Angeles: opposing new parcel taxes affecting commercial properties in Pasadena and Culver City, pushing back on proposed commercial tenant restrictions in LA County, and working directly with local agencies on permitting reform.

That’s what your support helps make possible.

BOMA at the Bowl helps us build the resources and relationships needed to keep showing up at City Hall, at the County, and in Sacramento - making sure commercial real estate has a voice before decisions are made.

So as we head to the Hollywood Bowl, we have a lot to celebrate and plenty more work ahead.
