Giving Thanks for a Year of Leadership, Collaboration, and Innovation

PolicyBriefings-400x400

As we gather to reflect on 2025, BOMA/GLA is filled with gratitude for the dedication, expertise, and leadership of our Policy Committees, their Chairs, and all members who actively contribute to advancing the commercial real estate industry in Greater Los Angeles.

Your involvement ensures that our conversations are not only informative but also actionable—shaping the policies, technologies, and sustainability practices that impact buildings and communities every day.

Year In Review

This year, our Security & Emergency Preparedness Committee, led by Laura Aguilar from Kilroy Realty and Mario Gaggioli from Guard Systems Inc, tackled critical topics such as fire life safety, cybersecurity risks, and active shooter preparedness, providing practical strategies to protect tenants, staff, and property assets.

Our Sustainability Committee, under the guidance of Chris Pierce from UG2 and Jessica Madrigal from Kilroy Realty, explored innovative approaches to energy efficiency, waste reduction, and ESG reporting, while navigating the transition from LEED v4.1 to LEED v5, as well as funding strategies for green building upgrades.

On the technology front, our Property Technology Committee, chaired by John Kasahara from Kilroy Realty and Ed Cohan from Genea, led discussions on tenant experience innovation, cybersecurity, parking optimization, and AI-driven operational solutions. We are excited to welcome Michael Rosenzweig from Avison Young to serve alongside Ed Cohan as our 2026 Chairs, continuing this critical work.

Our Codes and Regulations Committee, chaired by Michael Carmean from UG2 and Andy Hobbs from Divco West, provided valuable guidance to property managers in 2025 on navigating complex regulatory and compliance requirements, fire alarm control strategies, and ways to improve efficiency with LADBS, helping members manage projects more effectively.

Our Government Affairs Committee and Political Action Committee also deserve special thanks for their tireless efforts advocating for policies that support commercial property owners, operators, and service providers.

Your work ensures that our collective voice is heard on key issues impacting the built environment. Thank you!
