This year, BOMA/GLA has met with every Los Angeles City Council office to ensure the priorities of the commercial real estate industry are understood and considered. Our advocacy focuses on public safety, homelessness, and economic development—issues that affect daily operations, tenant satisfaction, and the overall vitality of Los Angeles business districts.

What You Need to Know

In these meetings, we’ve advanced key initiatives:

  • Public Safety – encouraging stronger LAPD partnerships, cleaner business corridors, and safer environments for tenants and employees.
  • Homelessness Solutions – highlighting the impacts of encampments on commercial properties and promoting strategies that connect unhoused individuals to long-term services.
  • Economic Development – advocating for Measure ULA reform and streamlined permitting through self-certification programs.

These conversations are about more than raising issues—they’re about building partnerships. Councilmembers and their staff increasingly rely on BOMA/GLA as a trusted resource for understanding the challenges and opportunities facing commercial property owners, managers, and tenants. By maintaining these relationships, we help shape policies that balance economic growth with community needs.

What This Means for You

Our advocacy ensures property managers and owners have a direct voice in City Hall decisions that impact operations and investment. From safer business corridors to more efficient permitting and policies that support property revitalization, BOMA/GLA is making sure your concerns are heard and addressed.

We will continue fostering these partnerships to support a strong, resilient commercial real estate industry while helping Los Angeles remain a vibrant, safe, and economically competitive city.
