LADWP’s New Incentive Program

BizFed Pulse

Meeting energy efficiency requirements can be hard, but new incentive programs can make it easier.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's Business Offerings for Sustainable Solutions (BOSS) program will help businesses pay for their upcoming energy efficiency programs. This program starts July 1st, 2024, but funding applications are open now.

LADWP’s incentives will help buildings improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs. Businesses planning new construction projects might want to check out LADWP's Zero by Design incentive program.

Businesses focused solely on lighting projects might want to look into LADWP's Commercial Lighting Incentive Program (CLIP). Starting July 1st, incentives will be increased up to 40 cents per kWH for retrofit projects.

Overall, our members will be able to take advantage of multiple new incentive programs for energy efficiency projects.

What You Need to Know

The BOSS program replaces LADWP's Custom Performance Program by offering better incentive rates. Businesses can seek energy efficiency upgrades for such things as their lighting, heating and cooling systems, and control systems.

The BOSS program incentives can cover up to 100% of project costs whereas CPP covered up to 75% of measured costs.

Depending on how much energy you save, you could potentially get back all the money you invested in the upgrades.

LADWP business customers need active electric accounts to be eligible. Furthermore, they must propose projects that meet or exceed energy standards.

Applications are available via email as of today or online on July 1st, 2024. A customer can apply for multiple energy efficiency projects.

How It Impacts You

BOSS gives money to businesses for their energy-saving investments. This helps buildings meet industry standards, making them more efficient, comfortable, and safe.

As energy rules get stricter, BOSS can help businesses grow and stay competitive. Tenants also want to save money and be efficient. In today's market, finding savings is crucial.
